A bulk cap feed elevator sorter is an automated packaging machine used to store, lift, orient, and feed large quantities of bottle caps into a capping station. How It Works: Floor-Level Loading: Operators dump thousands of loose caps into a low-level bulk hopper, removing the need for ladders or mezzanines to load overhead equipment. Cleated Elevation: A motorized, flighted conveyor belt (or cleated belt) scoops up the caps from the bin and carries them upward at a controlled angle. Sorting and Orientation: As the caps move up the belt, gravity or mechanical design forces incorrectly oriented caps to fall back into the bin, ensuring only properly aligned caps reach the discharge chute. Demand-Driven Feeding: A built-in sensor (photo eye) detects when the downstream cap chute is full and pauses the elevator, restarting automatically when more caps are needed.
