Agitation and drives. Run agitators under power, listen to gearboxes, and check shaft seals — the components that actually wear on a processing tank.

CIP capability. Confirm spray balls or CIP fittings are present and the vessel design drains fully. Equipment that cleans easily stays sanitary; equipment that doesn’t becomes a daily labor cost.

Documentation. Vessels with fabrication drawings, capacity charts, and (where applicable) jacket ratings integrate faster and pass audits easier. Buying from a supplier who has the equipment on their floor, powered and inspectable, removes most of the remaining risk.
